Mapro Town

Mapro Town · Theme Parks

The challenge

How do you turn a food park factory into a place people visit for the experience?

Mapro already had a food park factory. It worked as a production and retail location, which is a good reason to stop by, but not necessarily a reason to stay.

The site had a strong anchor and a loyal base. What it lacked was a way to turn a visit into a day out.

The opportunity was to build an amusement park around the factory and make the whole site a themed visitor experience.

The approach

We didn't add rides next to a factory. We gave the factory a world to belong to.

01 — Start from what the site already was

The factory was the starting point, not an obstacle. We looked at how an amusement park could be built around it so that both parts of the site strengthen each other.

02 — Propose the park, then design it whole

We proposed the amusement park concept and designed it as a complete destination, rather than handing over a list of attractions.

03 — Let dark rides carry the theme

Thematic design and attraction design went hand in hand, with dark rides at the center. They give visitors story-led experiences that a production site could never offer on its own.

04 — Plan the park so it works on the ground

Master planning and architectural drawings turned the idea into a buildable blueprint. We also decided where and which vendors sit within the park, so the visitor experience flows naturally from one area to the next.

05 — Carry the idea beyond the build

Merchandise was designed for the park, and marketing was planned to bring visitors in. Operations planning, with hiring and training support, was backed by experience management consultancy and project management consultancy, with on-site personnel overseeing the build.

The outcome

Projected — forecast, not yet achieved

From a production and retail location to a themed visitor experience.

The site is no longer defined only by what is made and sold there. It is defined by what visitors can experience around it.
